Super Sunday 5K Race

Other than catching up with Agricola, there isn't much I'll take away from this race. Having only trained 2.5 times since Jan. 1st, I should have been more prepared for the results. The only thing that hurt during the run was my lungs. Shins were sore afterwards, and for the next 2 days. To add insult to injury, I'm not listed in the official times. Not a great first chip experience.

All Unofficial:
Overall: 168/483
Div: 28/54
Age: M30-39
Gender: 94/164
Pace: 8:53
Finish: 00:27:33

Nice run!

You should definitely write them and figure out what's up with your results. They sent out a great email yesterday and were looking for feedback etc.

Look, I think your lack of results with this one is due to the lack of running in January. It's perfectly respectable 5K, faster than some slower than others. but you got out and did it. Look there were lots of people sitting around smoking, drinking and eating eggs Benedict while you were cavorting along the water front. That's a victory in and of itself.

Your lungs will come back, your ability to endure in a race will come back. It's about the reps. There is no replacement for mileage. You'll get there.

For your sake, I'm more concerned about your nagging injuries. I was wondering if your ankle shin soreness is connected to driving, but it's the wrong leg. Perhaps wrapping it and keeping it warm while running will help. Maybe new shoes would help -- something with more support. You're a NB guy, the 1223/4/5 is a nice shoe and very stable (not sure which iteration they're on).

Definitely call the doc, use ice post run, or in the evenings on the shins, ibuprofen etc. for the pain and split up your runs more (are you doing 2 on 1 off or 1 on 1 off so that advice may not pertain). Good luck . . . it was a blast to catch up Sunday though. It was fun!
this race is on my calendar for next year!

To Agricola's point in a comment to an earlier post, speed and performance is all relative. I look at these results and see something to aspire too, looks like an all around good performance...

You guys were out there, got together to catch up and participated. That right there is big. I like that recreative and activities are bringing this crew together. It's huge, especially as more of our peers hit this stage of life and slow to stop.

Good for you for getting out. That's a win. And you will improve. You know it, and we'll be here to see the progression. Looking forward to it.
