This is an experiment in distance training. We are a bunch of guys in our 30s who live far apart. This is our training blog. We hope to use each others postings as motivation in our own training.

I like the caffeine article, but I wonder about the lubricating effect caffeine can have on the bowels. I don't usually caffeinate before a race or morning run, and the one time I did, this happened:

Not sure if there's a correlation, but I'm now a little more wary of the pre-race coffee. A sports/energy drink will likely be my alternative.
The pre-race caffeine jolt is a caffeine pill, most likely.
